Using WhatsApp Video Call For Job Interviews

This is not a free advert for WhatsApp actually, but really, it’s an issue I want us as Talent Acquisition Professionals to look into considering the age and time we are in, where almost everything now has to be done online.

In as much as #Zoom, #WebEx, #Slack and #MicrosoftTeams etc, are perceived to be more professional for official functions, just like #LinkedIn is to #TikTok, it is important that we don’t take our eyes off the aim of some official functions.

For a job interview, the aim is to ascertain that a particular candidate is fit and can deliver on a job role. (Which means any means is fine to get that done).

There are times when we ourselves as #TalentAcquisition Professionals get to encounter network glitch from network service providers, that can be frustrating, but so also do Job Candidates.

The next line of action here is to find the easiest, accessible and available alternative just to get the goal achieved. I have had to shift virtual interviews from the so called perceived professional video call apps to WhatsApp video call for certain reasons well agreed upon with Candidates, and the goal was achieved — quality video, professional conversation, just that I can’t share slides which is okay for such interview.

Dear Recruiter, I’m glad you took out time to go through my thought on this issue. Please don’t be too hard on getting things done way, because there are 1001 ways to catch a Bird without a catapult and stone.

Please share with me in the comment section, what other Teleconferencing Apps you use for interviews aside Zoom, WebEx, Slack and Microsoft Themes.
